Friendship Tournament at the Courts

On Sunday we went out to the courts and had a great day!!! We finished second overall!! The girls played great!! We were missing Amelia our setter, who had a spectacular day at her State Swim meet. She set a PR in all her events!! Emmalyn stepped in at setter, while Madi and Emma shared Emmalyn's position. Watching the three of them in their new positions you would have thought they had played there all season.
In pool play we took care of OJVA 12-3 pretty easily winning 25-17 and 25-4. Ale went on a great serving run the first set going 7/7 with 3 aces. Madi went on one in the second set going 10/10 with 8 aces!! Kaitlin was 14/15 over all with 9 aces. Next came Rose City. We handled them pretty easily the first set winning 25-14. Sha' Day, Emma and Emmalyn served well. Ava and Emma had 3 kills each. The second set our passes were just too close to the net or we set them up one too many times and we dropped the set 20-25.
Now comes bracket play. First up was Southside, who earlier in the season crushed us!! They are currently ranked 4th, we are 11th. We played with them going back and forth until about 15-15 and one of their girls went on a serving run and our serve receive left us :( We dropped the set 16-25. The girls were not about to give up though. They came out guns a blazing in the second set and just dominated it!!! Southside didn't stand a chance we won 25-11. Emmalynn served 10/10 with 8 aces. The third set went back and forth. Neither side was willing to roll over and admit defeat. After an intense match we lost 11-15. I was so proud of the girls and how they fought!!! Obviously we have improved immensely over the couple of months since Southside crushed us last time. I hope to meet them again to even the score!!
When then had to play OJVA 12-2, after Southside the girls were tired and the game was much slower, but we prevailed 25-19 and 25-15. Sha' Day went 6/7 with 6 aces and Ava went 8/8 with 1 ace.
As usually Gabbie owned the net during day finishing with 8 kills not letting balls get across the net. Keanah who has been working hard on her passing had a very good day passing.
So proud of this team and can't wait for the next power league and watch them move up the rankings.
