Season Comes to and End at Emerald City

The team travelled to Seattle on Memorial Day Weekend for the Emerald City Tournament.  We all expected great things for the team as they came into the tournament as the #4 seed, and they did not disappoint. They played great in pool play, dropping only one set in five games (to our sister team NCVBC 14 Red) until they lost to the #1 seed in the tourney, Excel NW 14-2.  Their fantastic play earned them a spot in the Gold Bracket on Monday where they met a familiar opponent: NPJ 13-1.  They lost the first set 22-25, but they came back and took the second set 25-21. The third set was a real nail-biter.  They were down 4-9, when Ellie W put a serving run together to bring the score to 9-10.  NPJ then took off and the 14 Black team ended up losing 11-15.  It was a sad way to end the season, but the team ended with a 3rd Place finish in the Gold Bracket.  The players can hold their heads high with the great way they played this weekend, and for a fantastic season!
