13's Gold Win Olympic Premier Tourney
Bremerton, WA
After competing in the 14's age division all season our 13's Gold team competed in their first 13's only tourney yesterday in Bremerton, WA.   The drive was long, but the weather and surroundings were great.  The tourney was held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in the Sun Pavilion.  A beautiful location and facility.

We were 6-0 in pool play and were never really challenged.  In fact we outscored our opponents by 105 points.  This gave us the top seed going into bracket play.  See scores below.

NC 13's Gold defeats NW Jrs. 13's Tempest  (25-8, 25-6)
NC 13's Gold defeats Bainbridge Island 13's  (25-4, 25-9)
NC 13's Gold defeats Olympic Premier 13's Krush  (25-8, 25-8)

In the first round of bracket play we played Above The Net 13's.    I don't think our girls were mentally ready to play.  Maybe a little overconfident?  We found our selves down 10-2.    This was the wake up call they needed and they responded by out scoring Above The Net 23-4 in the first game to win 25-14,  The second game was close until about 15 when we put together a nice run and closed out the match winning 25-17 putting us into the finals.

From the beginning of the tourney our resident scouting crew had Kent Jrs. 13 Baden as the team to beat.  They finished ranked pretty high in the Puget Sound Region  and were undefeated on the day as well.  Our girls came out strong in the first game building a 10-2 lead and held on to win 25-18.  I could feel the momentum changing at the end of the first game.  We fell behind early in game two 4-0.  We were able to catch up, but in the end made some crucial mistakes and let the game slip away.   I knew that if we had a solid start in game three we could take the match.  We scored the first 3 point and were ahead 10-4.  At this point it seemed that we had it in the bag.  Kent Jrs.  was not ready to go home and fought back to tie it at 11.   We went up 12-11.  They tied it at 12.  But we were the team that made the big plays at the end to pull out the victory 15-12.   This has been our strength all season and we did it again.  Great teams play well under pressure and expect to win.  You are all winners.  Congrats on another fun and successful day!
