NC 13's Tie for 3rd at NCVBC Tourney
Our first match was against North County Wildcats - Purple.  The girls controlled this match from start to finish.  They even had some fun playing positions they normally do not play....winning easily 25-12, 25-4. We put together two more great games against Mid - Valley Gold in round two winning 25-9, 25-10.   Our final match in pool play was against West Valley Jrs.    They finished 3rd at regionals and had some amazing hitters.  This did not intimidate our girls as they were ahead most of the first game only to lose 22-25.   The second game did not go as well.  We lost 11-25.   We finished 2-1 in pool play and finished 2nd in our pool.   This qualified us to compete in  the Gold bracket in the afternoon.   Our first match was against Mid - Valley Black.   We defeated them in our last tourney and were hoping we would have the same result this time.  Unfortunately, in the first game Mid Valley was more than we could handle as they  controlled game one from start to finish winnning 16-25.   I knew our team wouldn't quit from past experience.  We also seem to come back strong after losing a game.   And we did winning 25-22 forcing a third game.    We found ourselves behind to start the third game 7-2 within just a few minutes.  Things were not looking good.  I called a time out and challenged the team to focus on one point at a time.  Our goal was to make it to 8 points (before we switched sides) before the Mid Valley made it to 8.....and we did!  It was unbelievable.   After switching sides we continued our momentum and ended up winning 15-9.   After being down 7-2 we outscored them 13-2 to win the match.     This advanced us to the semi finals against the number one seeded team in the tourney NW Jrs. Air Elite.    We battled them in the first game, but could not pull it out losing 17-25.   Again the girls would not quit and found themselves up 16-9 in game two.   We struggled a bit with our defense and serve receive and allowed NW Jrs. to tie the score at 16.  From this point on the score went back and forth and we were up 24-23 but could not close the game out.  We eventually lost 24-26.   Our outstanding play today placed us 3rd overall (tied with Alpine Falcons)  out of 16 teams which I think is pretty awesome.

Great job today.
