The day started off great.   We were playing UPVBC.  Our first server (Kiana)  got us off to a good start by serving the first 7 points of the game as we cruised to an easy 25-12 victory.   In game two we found ourselves down 12-3.  Not sure exactly why, but I think it was due to the smelly rooms we stayed in at the Emerald Queen Casino.  Actually I believe we just assumed that the team we were playing was not going to give us a challenge.  Unfortunately, they played us very tough in game two and beat us 25-18.   This was a big loss that will come back to bite us later.  We did however score more points overall in the two games.   We played Washington Volleyball Academy 14's Red next.  This team was ranked #4 overall in the Puget Sound region this past season.  So we had our work cut out for us.  In the first game we were very inconsistent and lost 17-25.   However we came back strong in game two and built a substantial lead.  I was very pleased at how we came back and battled.   In order to win the match, we could not let them score more than 16 points.   I think the score was 20 - 12 when Kelsey went back to serve.  She ran off 4 straight serves to give us game point.   Again the Emerald Queen Casino caused her final serve to fly a bit too far.  With the score 24-16 we knew we had to win the next point ..........and we did as their server launched one that landed about 10 inches beyond our end line.    Next up was Harbor Volleyball Club.  We handled them fairly easily 25-17, 25-5  giving us a 4-2 record in pool play.    WVA was playing UPVBC on the court next to us.  If they win both games against UPVBC they win the pool.  Unfortunately, they did win both games :( giving them a 5-1 record.   So instead being ranked in the top 4 going into bracket play, we were ranked 5th.  For some reason we were matched up with the same team (WVA Red).   This was not a good thing because we basically were out of gas and still feeling the effects from the Emerald Queen Casino.   We lost soundly 16-25, 13-25.   Next up Cowltiz Tourney in Longview.
