18's Black Loses in Championship, but moves up in Power League

With a solid showing during pool play and a 3 game battle win over rimrock we were able to get to the championship match and move up to the silver division next month. We won all 3 matches in pool play in 2 games, including a big win over PVC Purple and a comeback win from 19-24 over the top seed. It looked like our setters and hitters really benefited from a weekend full of tough games in Arizona and our last couple weeks of practice as they started to connect with a pretty fast offense. Our middles had a very strong Tournament and our block was very frustrating to the other teams, thanks to Becca, Janessa, Piper, and Haley. The first bracket game was the one we needed to win to clinch a spot in silver next power league. We had a great first game and were up big in the second when we ran out of subs and our serve receive got tight. We ended up losing the second game and went to a deciding third game. Brittney Johnson came up huge in the third game with some big kills and we were able to beat them pretty easily in the third game. We had some great plays in the championship match, but couldn't pull out a win as we looked worn out. Passing is often the first thing to go, and ours was gone, this made it very hard to run our offense and get a kill. I am excited to head to Vegas and see some of the top teams in the nation and hope it will prepare us for a tougher power league tournament in March.
