After a very tough pool and slow start on Friday, we were able to really improve each day and each match. As the only silver team playing open at PNQ we had a very tough pool the first day, including the tournament champions, City Beach, and 7th place finishers High Country.
Thinking that day two would even out the compition a bit I was surprised, and a little happy to see that our pool would be very challenging again. We played PVC black, Sudden Impact, and ITVC, all teams that have been in Platnum and Gold this year in either CEVA or Puget Sound regions. After getting beat pretty good by PVC we were able to limit errors and go 3 games with both ITVC, including a 31-29 win, and Puget Sound. We were unable to win a match though losing 15-13 and 15-12. This was some of the best volleyball we had played and was very fun to watch. On day 3 in bracket play we were able to continue our great play and win our first match 25-21, 25-14. Match two would put us against Mid Valley, currently 8th in Ceva. We came out serving very tough, making no hittingerrors, and putting up a big block. We took game 1 25-15 and had played very smart volleyball. Game 2 Mid Valley served a bit tougher and took advantage of some early errors. We got done big early but sided out well toward the end and lost 17-25, but playing very even the last 10 points. Game 3 the girls went back to the game plan of serving short, mixing in tips, and hitting off the big block of Mid Valley. We took game 3 15-11 and headed to the championship for our bracket, a rematch against ITVC who we lost to in 3. The first game was a great battle and with some key serves from Payton and Sarah we won 26-24. The second game we came out to finish them early, Clarke and Bevens had big kills in serve receive and our passing was on. We took revenge with a 25-17 win in the second game and won the flight 3 bracket. Overall finishes for CEVA teams in 18s Open
