18's Black Takes 12th at Regionals
Bookmark and Share
Our goal going into season was a top ten finish. While we fell just short of that I will gladly take 12th, especially after a brutal day 1 at regionals. We started the year 25th and moved up every single Power league, finally stopping at number 12, after losing to Cowlitz in 3 on Sunday.

Going into regionals we had a pretty nice pool, besides NW #1, to give us a good shot at playing in Gold. Unfortunately, we didn't show up Saturday, to say the least. I was very proud that this team did not leave it at that and they came out Sunday with something to prove. We beat OJ's in 2 in the first round, they had beaten us the day before in pool and had knocked us out of regionals last year in the 3rd place game. We then lost a tough game to Suncats sending us into the losers bracket. We drew Alpine next who we hadn't faced all year and who had been in Gold the last 2 power leagues. We came out very aggressive, served tough, and put up a huge block. It was a very big win for us in 2 and to knock them out of regionals. Next up was Cowlitz. We lost the first game, but made some adjustments and took the second game. We started off behind in the 3rd game, but stayed close. We put 2 serves into the net and allowed a few tips to hit the floor and that is always enough to lose a 3rd game. The girls were tired but played very hard and it was great to watch them finish strong.  We only have 2 seniors so it will be nice for this team to start 12 next year, right where they finished.
