The 16's Black team stepped up their game on their home court today and won the tourney by beating a tough Mt. Hood team in the finals.
After splitting with Mt. Hood in pool play we knew it would be a competitive final and it was! We won game one but game two was looking bleak and it looked like the match might go to a third game when Mt. Hood took a lead of 23-20 and 24-22. However this team fought hard and were determined to win in two straight. Each player stepped up their play to contribute to the comeback. After tying the score at 24 a piece both teams continued to swap leads. It wasn't until a Hannah Stultz dump on match point that the team could celebrate winning their own tourney. It was a great finish to a well played day!
Rachel and I have been amazed at how much each athlete on this team has grown as volleyball players. It has been a very rewarding experience to see this group put into practice the things we have asked from them. Watching them come together as a team this year has been well worth the time spent together in the gym.
Cierra, Kiana, Sydney, Hailey, Kasey, Makayla, Hannah, Morgan, Shelby, and Anna you're all amazing and a ton of fun to coach! Keep up the hard work and let's play this well up in Seattle.
