What a day!! Sunday started on a sour note when our setter Jenni fell & hurt her arm during warm-ups. With our other setter away on vacation, we asked Mari & Kalya to step in and help out. We came out strong against Wilsonville & took the match 25-9 and 25-6. Madison & Alexis had strong serves that caused our opponent to struggle. Tennison attacked the ball whenever she was set.
Next we played Webfoot & started to find our groove, winning 25-8 and 25-21. Emily used her left handed serve to rack up 8 aces & 11 more good serves to help our team finish the match. On to play the Suncats where we struggled from behind to finish up 25-21 & 25-23. We began to set up the ball better & got several impressive kills from our front row in this set. Lauren blocked 2 balls & attacked the ball whenever she had the opportunity. Alexis was a fierce defender. No ball went to the floor on her watch. Delia was our super libero, and she covered the lines like a champ.
Onward to bracket play! Alyssa rocked the gym with her impressive run of 18 straight points. 12 of the points were aces, proving that her jump float serve was TROUBLE for this opponent! Madison also helped us out with 7 aces, 3 other good serves & no misses. Deep breath, lots of water & on to the championship game.
Webfoot came ready to play and we struggled more at the end of our long day. The girls never gave up, and dug deep to finish up the day with a BIG tournament win for the 12’s team. Our parents rocked the gym with their new tie dyed and stealth black shirts. Jenni sat on the bench with her new arm sling to encourage & cheer us on. Great finish to an awesome day!
Coach Terri & Coach Connie are very proud of our team. Go Blackout!!!!
