OREGON CITY - After being off for several weeks, we got back into the flow of tournament play with a friendship tournament on Saturday, January 28 in Oregon City.

We opened morning pool play against Trailsend 14-2 with an easy win 25-5 and 25-9.  We had several really long serving runs which kept our opponent on their heels throughout the match.  Our second match was against PVC 14 Yellow.  We opened the first set really strong winning 25-8, but with PVC playing better in the second set it got a little tighter before we won 25-20.  Our third and final match in pool play was against Boss. They were tall and aggressive and battled us tough in the first set.  We played great team volleyball and won a very tight set 25-23.  In the second game, they jumped out to an early 1-4 lead, but a couple of key blocks and some great serving allowed us to pull away.  Boss would only score eight more points the rest of the set as we won 25-12.

We were the top seed coming out of pool play and started the afternoon against Nike NW Power.  We played some solid volleyball in the match and won 25-11 and 25-18.  Our semi-final match was against #32 Trailsend 14-1.  They came out to play and played virtually error free volleyball.  It was one of those matches were everything went right for them.  We dug ourselves huge holes in both sets.  In the first set we fell behind 5-17, before fighting all the way back.  However, we couldn't put it away and lost 23-25.  In the second set, we again fell behind by ten points early, before pulling almost even at 18-19.  However, we ran out of steam and lost 18-25.  We showed great heart and fight in this match even when we were behind by double digits.

Overall, it was a strong tournament with a 4-1 record.  We get another chance to win a tournament this weekend when we play our second power league in Salem on Sunday.  Let's have a really strong and focused week of practice and come out on Sunday with a champions attitude and show everyone that we deserve a place in the Silver Division.
